The COEDC is excited to announce its new strategic plan to drive sustainable regional growth and position the Central Okanagan for resiliency in the face of economic uncertainty. The COEDC Strategy 2025 to 2030 builds on regional strengths, addresses current challenges and pursues top investment opportunities to support a thriving business environment. It will provide a roadmap for economic resilience amid changing conditions based on regional assets and existing economic development programs. Comprehensive community engagement and economic analysis guided the development of the renewed strategic directions below:

  1. Drive Economic Resilience: support businesses in adapting to a changing landscape.
  2. Build a Skilled Workforce: foster a skilled regional workforce by focusing on talent development, attraction and retention.
  3. Promote Innovation: promote innovation to boost labour productivity and resource efficiency.
  4. Grow Export-Focused Industries: strengthen the export base by attracting high-value companies, supporting market expansion and building regional supply chains.

Strategy Background and Overview

The Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission (COEDC) is in the process of developing a renewed 5-Year Strategy (2025-2030) by evaluating current economic development initiatives, consulting with the community, and identifying regional economic opportunities, the COEDC is committed to encouraging the development of a healthy and dynamic sustainable economy in the Central Okanagan.

The COEDC has retained Deloitte LLP, an economic consulting firm, to assist with the COEDC Strategy 2025 to 2030, the process includes conducting thorough economic analysis and engagement with industry leaders, post-secondary institutions, support organizations, and local governments. In crafting strategic directions for the next five years, Deloitte LLP will consider regional opportunities and challenges, focusing on areas where COEDC can have the most significant impact. The COEDC Strategy 2025 to 2030 will be designed to be feasible within current resources or indicate the need for additional resources. It will outline key areas of focus, overarching objectives, and regional priorities aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth in the Central Okanagan.

About the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission (COEDC)

The Regional District of Central Okanagan’s (RDCO) Economic Development Commission (COEDC) works in partnership to facilitate and encourage the development of a healthy and dynamic sustainable community economy by supporting existing businesses and encouraging new business investment within the Regional District of Central Okanagan. With networks spanning from Peachland to Lake Country, we facilitate connections, collaboration, and fuel entrepreneurship. The COEDC is committed to supporting business by investing in workforce development, resources and data, and partnerships and programs.

Purpose of Survey

The purpose of the survey is to understand the needs and opportunities of Central Okanagan businesses and workforce. Specifically, the business survey seeks to uncover insights into business experiences, sentiments, and perceptions, while the workforce survey will offer insights on workforce characteristics, opportunities, and challenges in the region. The information gathered regarding experiences, economic opportunities, and challenges will play a key role in shaping COEDC Strategy 2025-2030 and tracking community trends over time.

Why is it important to participate in this survey?

Participating in this survey is crucial as it provides valuable insights that will directly inform COEDC's Strategy 2025-2030. Your input will help ensure that the strategy reflects the real needs and priorities of the community, identifying areas where the COEDC can have the most significant impact. By sharing your perspective, you contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the current business and workforce climate, enabling the development of actionable, resource-aligned strategic goals and identifying the region's opportunities for sustainable economic growth in the region. Your participation and feedback are very important, and we thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule. Your responses will remain confidential and will only be reported in aggregate form. The survey will take approximately 12-15 minutes of your time.
